Electric Motor Testing & Vibration Analysis in Pakistan.

TransfoLine delivers certified Electric Motor Testing, Dynamic Load Analysis, and Vibration Spectrum Diagnostics across Pakistan for Low-Voltage (415V) and High-Tension (3.3kV, 6.6kV, 11kV) industrial induction motors. Using high-frequency surge testers, MCSA analyzers, and multi-channel FFT vibration meters, we prevent unexpected production downtime and verify motor rewinding quality.

  EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

What is Electric Motor Testing & Vibration Diagnostics?

Electric motor testing encompasses static electrical diagnostics (surge testing, winding resistance, polarization index) and dynamic online evaluations (vibration FFT spectrum, MCSA current signature, full-load thermal rise) to detect turn-to-turn insulation degradation, broken rotor bars, mechanical unbalance, and bearing faults before catastrophic motor burnout.

01

Turn-to-Turn Surge Comparison

Standard Megger tests only find direct ground faults. Our IEEE 522 surge test injects steep wavefront pulses to expose turn-to-turn and phase-to-phase micro-defects within stator coils before winding failure occurs.

02

Dynamic FFT Vibration & Bearing Analysis

Accelerometers measure velocity (mm/s RMS) and high-frequency acceleration across bearing housings to pinpoint misalignment, unbalance, looseness, and inner/outer race bearing fatigue.

  DIAGNOSTIC SCOPE

Electric Motor Diagnostic Tests We Perform

MOT.01 High-Voltage Surge Comparison Testing (IEEE 522) Applying synchronized high-voltage pulses across stator phases to identify inter-turn insulation weaknesses and turn short circuits. Surge Testing
MOT.02 Insulation Resistance & Polarization Index (PI) 1kV to 5kV DC Megger testing with 1-minute and 10-minute readings to calculate the dielectric absorption ratio of stator windings. Megger & PI
MOT.03 Stator Winding Resistance & Phase Balance Four-wire Kelvin bridge milliohm measurement to verify copper resistance balance within ±1% across all three motor phases. Winding Resistance
MOT.04 Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA) Online spectral current logging to detect cracked squirrel-cage rotor bars, high-resistance joints, and air-gap eccentricity without stopping the machine. MCSA Analysis

ISO 10816-3 Motor Vibration Severity Classification

Condition Zone Medium Motors (15kW – 300kW) Large HT Motors (> 300kW) Machine Operational Status
Zone A (Good) ≤ 1.4 mm/s RMS ≤ 2.3 mm/s RMS Newly commissioned or completely refurbished motor
Zone B (Acceptable) 1.5 – 2.8 mm/s RMS 2.4 – 4.5 mm/s RMS Continuous unrestricted long-term industrial operation
Zone C (Restricted) 2.9 – 4.5 mm/s RMS 4.6 – 7.1 mm/s RMS Schedule maintenance overhaul and bearing replacement
Zone D (Unacceptable) > 4.5 mm/s RMS > 7.1 mm/s RMS Immediate shutdown to prevent shaft or winding destruction
04   MOTOR TESTING FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions.

Technical advice on electric motor predictive maintenance.

ON-SITE Can motors be tested on-site without decoupling from the load?

Yes. Vibration analysis, online MCSA, and thermal imaging are performed directly under normal operating load without decoupling. Static surge and winding tests are performed during scheduled plant downtime directly from the MCC panel terminals.

REWINDING QC Do you perform quality control testing on newly rewound motors?

Yes. We perform rigorous post-rewinding acceptance testing including surge comparison (IEEE 522), no-load current balance, high-potential withstand, and full vibration spectrum validation.
